The last important job before the holiday season was finished just in time - spreading a 20 ton load of gravel in the yard, so that visitors could get to us, and that they can now step out of their cars (or off their horse carts - hasn't happened ever yet, but who knows...) without sinking into ankle deep mud...And of course, Winnie was a great helper again, pulling a homemade gravel spreading device round and round the yard, to save us from shoveling and shoveling.
So, we are ready now to retire with a glass of hot fruit punch in front of the stove, putting our feet up...

Happy holidays to all my loyal blog readers, and enjoy the festive season!!!

The recent strong gusts finally made us get on with a long overdue job - to bring down some of the trees on our driveway which were worryingly ready to fall. And so one of them did a few nights ago. It took the phone line with it - but, hey, who needs a phone! I wonder how many messages will actually be left whilst we are off the hook?

So it was Winnie's turn to help us sort things out. More trees were taken down in the process, and after Winnie shifting them off the driveway, we now have a good lot waiting in the field, ready to be chopped into firewood.

A while before the winds turned us busy, it was time for a trip to North County Cork, to a meeting with the Irish Working Horse Association committee. And because that was so close to where Flora lives at the moment, of course, I had to call in! She definitely is on top of things! Chubby and fluffy in her winter coat, she has things under her control around the hay stack and amongst the feeding bowls. The other foals watch her with awe...I happily departed and leaving her to enjoy her kindergarten experience for another few weeks.

Oh, and if you have a minute, check out the new website for the Irish Working Horse Association:
