So Winnie and I went to a Trec Ireland event (www. last weekend in West Cork, where we competed on Level 3, which involved a 30 km orienteering route along the Mizen Head and on the Sheep's Head Way on the first day. On the second day, we competed in the other two phases of the Trec event, which is an obstacle course with water corssings, jumps, inclines, S-bends, gates etc. and a control of paces phase, where a given distance has to be mastered within a certain time frame - in slow canter first, and then in quick walk.
Winnie had doen only very few full Trec competitions before, as she was busy every Summer up to last Autumn, looking after her foals, but she did very well on the weekend and took to the challenge in her own stride. I had competed with Henry in several Level 2 Trec competitions before, but Level 3 was new for me as well - what an adventurous weekend. And we walked away with a blue rosette for coming second as a team with a rider from Co. Clare!! Another ribbon for the collection...
